I needed to replace my zebra. My zebra area rug to be precise.
It was looking a bit out of shape, and something new and bright was definitely needed to revive the living room. So, as i looked around for a new zebra, i discovered lots of exciting new stores and brands.
First of all, Home Decorators. Home Decorators has a website and are also located in some Home Depot stores. The closest in the Bay Area is in Walnut Creek. You can find an enormous variety of colors, patterns, and shapes of area rugs. Ranging from Versailles inspired circle rugs to 60's psychedelic pattern rugs, Home Decorators has a lot to offer.
Another favorite is Cost Plus. Cost Plus has a small, but trendy collection of zen inspired rugs. The prices range from $200-$600. You can find the most gorgeous tufted rugs there... And the rugs are made out of natural fabrics, so they will last a long long time.
Last, but not least, my favorite place to shop for house accessories and furniture is Urban Outfitters. Many people think of Urban Outfitters as a mass merchandise...well...urban... clothing store. But the "apartment" section of the store is quite stylish. Urban Outfitters also has a website where you can get unique and "artsy" items. That is where I found the perfect zebra. It's a 4x6 tufted wool rug for $168. A pretty good deal for a wool rug! Urban Outfitters also offers very cool Trompe L'Oeil Floor Mats. These are photos of wooden floors printed on a micro-woven poly backed with plush foam rubber. It's 66"x46" wide ad runs $140.

Lots of great finds on this site! But, I'll share a secret with you- the best deals are found in the store it self, where many items such as couches, tables, pillows, and lamps are on sale. And often, you can find some "floor samples" that are up to 75% off!
